North Pole's Copley going to ECHL , signs Caps contract

FAIRBANKS-North Pole's Phoenix Copley goes pro. Last month, at the end of his sophomore year Copley inked a two-year deal with the Washington Capitals worth up to 1.4 million as an entry level contract which starts in a year.

In the meantime he'll be with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL after signing an amateur tryout deal.

He'll be looking for playing time after not playing in the AHL for the Hershey Bears this past month. The Bears are the Capitals minor-league affiliate.
