North Pole home damaged in large fire

A large North Pole home sustained substantial damage in a fire early this morning.

According to North Star Volunteer Fire Department Chief Steve Crouch, the fire happed at mile 7.8 of Eielson Farm Road.

The 3600 square foot home's second story was fully engulfed in flames upon arrival; however the occupants and pets inside the residence were able to escape without any injuries.

The second story of the home was completely destroyed, and due to the size of the fire, North Star received mutual aid from Eielson Air Force Base, North Pole Fire, Steese Fire, and City of Fairbanks Fire Departments along with 5 North Star engines.
