Residents of North Pole will have to drive a little further for a few months to get a Happy Meal.
The North Pole McDonald's has temporarily closed its doors in order to completely tear down the old building, and rebuild a brand-new facility.
The company, G2 Construction began the demolition yesterday; the plan is to build a new McDonald's, similar to those seen in Fairbanks.
The City Clerk says there will be renovations such as a 2-car drive through, bigger play place, and other upgrades.
The expected time for reopening is around the end of October of this year.
City Mayor Bryce Ward says he is excited to see the new facility open and feels that it will be great for the residents in North Pole.
