A wild land fire broke out Sunday afternoon near Harding Lake, that's according to officials with the Alaska Division of Forestry.
The fire, dubbed "Old Valdez Trail," had already burned about 15 acres by the time firefighters arrived on scene.
State Forestry, and the Salcha Volunteer Fire Department both responded to the fire, with the Alaska State Troopers providing assistance
"White Mountain, and Chena Hot Shot Crews from Fairbanks were on-scene in the early stages of the fire," says Sarah Saarloos, Public Information Officers
with the Alaska Division of Forestry. "We hit it hard with tankers and retardant to take the heat out of the fire."
A direct cause of the fire remains unknown.
