North Star fire officials are also investigating a structure fire that displaced a Moose Creek family, and killed a family dog.
At about 5:15 p.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to a possible structure fire at 3523 Hope Street in Moose Creek.
The on duty Battalion Chief was the first unit to arrive on the scene and found smoke coming from the two story residence.
Once firefighters entered the structure, a small fire was found in the basement living room and was quickly extinguished.
Fire damage was confined to the room where it started, however extensive smoke damage occurred in the entire home.
The occupants were not home at the time of the fire, but returned home to find their home full of smoke.
No injuries were reported, however, the family dog perished.
The Red Cross is providing assistance to the family and the home was insured.
A damage estimate is unknown.
