Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks say they've received numerous reports that someone had rummaged and stole items from vehicles late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning.
In a news release, Troopers say the incidents took place in the Lyle Nelson neighborhood overnight.
So far, according to Troopers, items reported stolen are a gun, cigarettes and CDs.
They say contents of vehicles were "then left strewn about the vehicles."
All of the vehicles that were reportedly involved were left unlocked overnight in the driveways of single-family residences within a one-mile radius of each other.
Troopers are investigating the thefts.
Anyone with information about the thefts can contact troopers at (907) 451-5100.
Troopers are also reminding people to lock their vehicles and homes at night to "lessen the chance of being a victim of crimes of opportunity".
They say other prevention tips include not "leaving valuables in plain sight or taking the items out of your vehicle once you get home."
