New volleyball wins exhibition against alums

FAIRBANKS-On Saturday the Alaska Nanook volleyball team got their first game experience in the Alumni game. The Nanooks took the first set 25-16 but the Alumni come back in the second to win 25-16 as well. The Nanooks regrouped to win the final set 25-15 after jumping out to an 8-0 lead.

6'1" freshman setter Katelyn Camp had 29 assists. Sam Harthun posted a double double with 15 kills and 12 digs.

Tina Ferringer, one of the volleyball alums from 2002, likes what she sees from this new team.

"Very strong hitters, they're very quick on their attacks and I think that's definitely what caused a lot of their success tonight were the quick attacks." Ferringer added," It means a lot to come back and support the Nanooks and be here for the girls so it was exciting."
Camp was pleased with her teams outing but given that it was the first one she saw areas where the team can get better.

"Our communication could be like a little but higher but I think overall we still did really well for our very first game." Camp also said, "we all click really well as a team and we all get along so playing on a court is like a bunch of sisters together, it's like one big happy family; I love it."
