Nanook women's basketball team faces UAA on Saturday

FAIRBANKS-Your Nanook women's basketball team will end their three game homestand this Saturday against rival UAA.

It's the first meeting this season between the squads. The Nooks are 8-4, 2-4 in conference while UAA is second in the GNAC at 4-2 and are 11-3 overall. Both teams split their last 2 against St. Martin's and Western Oregon.

Interesting matchup as the Seawolves score the most per game (89 ppg) and grab the most boards (45 rbpg) but are second to last in scoring defense (69ppg).

UAF is tops in defending the three point area while UAA loves the three hitting about seven per game which is the best in the GNAC.

The rookies could be the x-factor the Nanooks. Freshman forward Jordan Wilson  has scored 20+ plus points in her last three games. Fellow first year player Candace Prestwich, a junior college transfer, is coming off a career high 18 point game in the UAF's last game against Western Oregon.
