Nanook volleyball gets second GNAC win

FAIRBANKS-Today the Nanooks made the winning plays they didn't make on Thursday against Saint Martin's. Alaska got 3-1 victory (25-19, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21) over visiting Western Oregon for their second home win and second conference win of the year.

Sam Harthun returned to form contributing 17 kills after posting a season low seven on Thursday. Senior Keri Knight is anything but silent with her play. Knight finished with 14 kills marking the eighth straight game with seven or more kills. Both Knight and Harthun hit their top three percentages of the year and as team the Nanooks hit .327 which is their second best of the season.

The Nanooks couldn't get a confidence building win at a better time. Next Saturday they host intrastate rival UAA. The Seawolves are on a six game winning streak and haven't lost more than one set during their current streak. The game starts at 7 p.m.
