Nanook swim team is nationally ranked

FAIRBANKS-The Nanook swim team won't be back in the pool competitively until Dec 6 for the Husky Invitational in Federal Way, Wash. but there will be targets on the back of some swimmers.

In the latest Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association NCAA Division 2 national poll the Nanooks are ranked 19th in the nation. They have 15 top 25 national times in 13 different events. PCSC foe Cal Baptists is just ahead at 18. Grand Valley State is ranked first.

Among those top times freshman Victoria Adams is the highest ranked with her 200 backstroke time of 2:04.6 seconds is fourth in the country. Adams is eighth in the 200 IM as well.

Big sister Margot Adams is sixth in the 100 fly. Senior Bente Heller has the sixth, seventh, and eighth best times in the 100 free, 50 free and 100 back. Freshman Kathryn Pound, from New Zealand is ranked seventh in the 500 free.

The 200 medley relay team of Heller, the Adams sisters and Eileen Audette are fifth in the nation.
