FAIRBANKS-The Nanook volleyball team's season ended over the weekend with Montana State Billings defeating the Nooks in four sets The Nanooks were led by Sam Harthun who had a game high15 kills and three aces.
With those 15 kills Harthun nailed 435 this season. Today she was named first team All-GNAC.
The sophomore's 435 kills this season are fifth most ever in GNAC history in a single season. She was the clear terminator the next closest was 44 kills back. It's also fourth best in Nanook history and 10 better than head coach Mallory Larranaga 's total in 2003.
Harthun led the GNAC and was seventh in the nation in points and kills per set. She got it done defensively too with career highs in digs, total blocks and service aces. Harthun had four matches with at least 20 kills as well.
Under first year head coach Larranaga the Nanooks ended the year 4-25 overall and 3-15 in conference.
