Nanook Hockey wins fifth straight game

FAIRBANKS, Ak-The Alaska Nanooks were in the Carlson Center Friday night riding a four game winning streak with wins at Michigan for the first time in program history and a sweep of the fifth ranked Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. For an encore the Nanooks brought their road show home and faced an equally hot team in the Northern Michigan Willdcats.

The Wildcats come into this series having won five of their last six with no losses during their winning stretch. Did we mention the Nanooks haven't beaten Northern Michigan since 2007? The Wildcats have won the last 16 meetings with the Nanooks.

The Nanooks were unphased and won 2-1 in a tightly contested game that would down to the wire as the Nanooks closed out defensively.

UAF got a off to a great start with Cody Kunyk's goal coming just 48 seconds into the game. It was Kunyk's first goal in the last 12 games. Kunyk would follow up with an assist in the second period that setup Colton Beck that would prove to be the game winner.

John Kenney continues his great goaltending with 24 saves and few clutch ones late to perserve win for the Nanooks.

Both teams will go at on Saturday night where the Nanooks will have a chance to capture three straight sweeps and their sixth win in a row.
