Nanook hockey adds two local players to hockey team

FAIRBANKS, AK-The Alaska Nanook hockey team get two more players to sign and they're local products. Jared Linnell and Justin Woods will be Nanooks.

Linnell, a center, has the Nanook pedigree. His parents are UAF alums from the late 80s. His father played hockey and his mother volleyball. Linnell is a North Pole product and was part of the Robertson Cup Champion Ice Dogs team from 2011. Linnell is coming off a stint in the USHL netting 31 points in 43 games for the Tri-City Storm.

Justin Woods, a defenseman, is a West Valley product and played for the Ice Dogs during the 2011-2012 season. Woods won a gold medal this year with Team USA in the World A Junior Challenge. Woods is coming from the Lincoln Stars. He is an excellent passer, getting at least 3 assists 2 times.

That's seven players when you add in Marcus Basara, Shawn Hochhausen, Brandon Morley, Joey Davies and Josh Erickson to complete the 2017 Nanook recruiting class.
