FAIRBANKS-Last night the Patty Center the Nanook men's basketball team faced a hot Western Oregon Wolves team The Wolves came in on a three game winning streak but the Nooks are 9-1 at home.
UAF didn't get the memo in the first as they rolled to start the game leading 32-16 at one point.
Then the Nanooks switch flipped down and the Wolves flipped theirs up an on. They went on a 23-2 run and led 38-34 at the break.
Fast forward to late in the game Ronnie Baker scores two of his team 20 points to give UAF a 68-65 advantage. Joe Slocum got a layup to go as well to push the lead to 70-65. Slocum had 15 but Devon Alexander answers with critical three point play to make 70-68 with 15 seconds left.
UAF miss two 1-1 opportunities. The Wolves came down the court on the second miss, make the extra pass against UAF's zone and Jordan Wiley who had 12 points hits the clutch dagger three with 4.3 second left shocking UAF in the Patty Center. Wolves win 71-70.
Unfortunately the women's game didn't turn out better either.
Points were had to come by as the Nooks host 25 percent against the Western Washington Vikings.
There last lead was 3-2 but Benissa Bulaya, who had 14, got UAF within six in the second half. Kailee Skjold had a season high 19 points for the Nooks.
However, the Vikings, were efficient. They shot 53 percent from the floor and were 9-13 from beyond the arc. Katie Colard led six Vikings in double figures with a game high 20 points.
The Nanooks suffer their fourth straight loss losing 91-65 to Western Washington.
