FAIRBANKS-In girls basketball the Monroe Rams lost to West Valley in rematch. The final was 47-17.
Hannah Mattson scored 15 points for the Wolfpack but didn't score in the fourth thanks to her teamate Callie Franz who dropped eight in the fourth and finished with 13 points. The Wolfpack's defense didn't allow more than 7 points in four quarters for the Rams. The Wolfpack went into the second quarter 9-4 then 17-5 run to bust open this game.
The Nome-Beltz Nanooks upset Colony 50-47. The Nanooks had three players in double figures led by Adelaine Ahmasuk with 14 points. Colony got 21 points with four threes from Mary Klapperich but it wasn't enough to properl here team to the win.
In boys basketball the Lathrop Malemutes fall to Colony as well. The final was 54-44. Boyd Huffman had a game high 22 points. He had 11 in the second quarter. Trayvon Washington had 13 points for the Malemutes 12 of those points were in the second half. Colony led 21-7 at the end of the first but Lathrop only trailed four 38-34 into the fourth quarter. Lathrop held Colony to just two points in the third quarter. Colony outscored the Malemutes 16-10 in the fourth.
The Monroe Rams were faced by a 1-3-1 zone against Nome-Beltz in the night cap but figured it out by hitting threes. They hit five trey balls in first half and went into the break with a 30-17 lead. That lead would balloon to 20 in the third quarter.
