Motor vehicle accident sends 1 to the hospital

Fairbanks Police Department responded to multiple accidents today due to icy conditions before the holiday rush.

According to Police, an accident that occurred on the Old Steese Highway and Johansen Expressway was due to failure to yield.

The driver of a small Ford attempted to take a left turn quickly when a truck t-boned the vehicle, leaving it totaled.

The driver of the small Ford, said to be an older male, was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital; the extent of his injuries were unknown.

Fairbanks Police Officers remind the public that this is a high traffic time and folks need to give themselves time and drive slowly as the roads continue to remain icy.
