A Fairbanks man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after authorities said he fatally punched his girlfriend at a homeless camp.
Prosecutor Scott Mattern says that sentencing guidelines suggest a prison term of seven to 11 years for 57–year–old Rick Allen.
His sentencing hearing is scheduled for May.
Authorities say Allen's girlfriend, Ellen Florence Juneby Rada, was found unconscious June 28 and died more than a week later of a brain hemorrhage.
Court documents say Allen told Fairbanks police he punched and choked Rada and threatened to kill her.
Allen has a history of minor alcohol offenses, but the manslaughter is his first felony conviction.
