FAIRBANKS- A Fairbanks man accused of beating and robbing a camper has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges.

21-year-old Matthew Wendel faces charges including robbery in the second degree, theft, and assault in connection with the June attack.

The victim, who was camping in the woods near the Hez Ray fields by the Big Dipper Arena, sustained injuries after being kicked and punched multiple times.

He initially reported he was jumped by a group of white teenage males who made off with 180 dollars and his debit card.
