A 50 year old North Pole man was sentenced to more than six years in jail for dragging a State Trooper who had been trying to apprehend him by reaching into his vehicle
During a scheduled "Change Of Plea "hearing Wednesday afternoon, Erin Johnson pleaded guilty to felony counts of Third-Degree Assault and Failure To Stop at the Direction of a Peace
Officer during a September 2011 incident that took place at the Moose Creek Apartments near Eielson Air Force Base.
At the time, and according to previous News Center 11 reports, Johnson was stopped at the Moose Creek apartments because he matched the description of a man who had been
breaking into parked vehicles with another suspect.
As Johnson was leaving the scene, he was contacted by a Trooper.
A short time later, Johnson drove away while dragging the officer who had reached in and tried to pull Johnson out of the vehicle or turn off the ignition.
Johnson dragged the trooper about 60 feet, before escaping from the scene.
He was arrested hours later.
