A long, and storied career with the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District has officially ended with the retirement of long time administrator Clarence Bolden.
On Friday evening, Bolden and his wife, Margurette Bolden where the guests of honor at a ceremony held in their honor at the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel.
Earlier this year, Bolden, who served as the Executive Director of Human Resources with the district, stated he was retiring.
FNSB School Superintendent Pete Lewis, in January, announced the appointment of Traci Gatewood to succeed Bolden in the position.
Bolden called it "the end of an incredible ride," but says he and his wife will remain in the Fairbanks area.
"I'm really privileged to have been here," said Bolden. "It's been a fantastic time at the school district. You know, it's Fairbanks, it's the community. It's just great.
We're going to take some time visiting grandchildren down in Georgia, then it's back to Fairbanks. We love it here. It's home."
