FAIRBANKS -- A 68-year-old Fairbanks man will serve the next eight years in jail for sexually assaulting an incapacitated woman last year.
During a scheduled hearing earlier today, Dennis Gentleman pled guilty to two counts of second-degree sexual assault. As part of a plea deal struck with state prosecutors, five other alleged felony sex crimes that could have yielded a possible life prison term were dismissed.
Court records say the 21-year-old victim is said to suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome and is (in their words) very low functioning. Records say Gentleman assaulted the woman from June 1st until July 31st, 2012, and some of the incidents were witnessed by Gentleman's daughter.
