Lawmakers work late on gas line legislation.

The Alaska house last night passed legislation to continue state work on an in state natural gas pipeline.

House Bill 4 would grant the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation the authority needed to develop an in state line from the North Slope to Southcentral.

The measure still has to be approved by the senate.

The pipeline would pass outside Fairbanks and the preliminary design includes a 37 mile spur line to bring the gas into the borough. The project's price tag is about 7 point 7 billion dollars.
