FAIRBANKS-Today another Interior athlete signed a national letter of intent. Lathrop's Brooke Lizotte, the cross country runner, signed her NLI in Lathrop's library surrounded by family, friends and teammates.
She'll be attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Lizotte will be running for the Bulldogs, a Division II program that had two top five finishes in meets last season and finished seventh in the Great American Conference.
Lizotte placed 10th in the 4A state cross country meet last year and was runner up the Region VI race. She also is leading scorer for the Lathrop basketball team this season.
One reason she chose to be a Bulldog is because it's hot in Oklahoma. She prefers running the heat as opposed to the cooler temps in the spring time her in Alaska.
Lizotte, however, said the biggest reason she chose Southwestern Oklahoma State is for their pharmacy program. There she can get doctorate in their six year program.
