FAIRBANKS-Last night the only game in town was high school soccer double header between the Hutchison Hawks and Lathrop Malemutes. We start with the girls game and the last time these teams played it was 1-1 tie.

Lathrop was holding on to a 1-0 lead thanks to a Song Ebbesen goal in the first half.

Both teams flexed their defensive muscles. Lathrop was looking for the insurance goal but keep Angel Ochoa wasn't allowing anymore goals with a number of saves. The Hawks were attacking to tie the game again but Mikayala Triplehorn of Lathrop was also denying shots.

Both defenses and goalies closed the door in the second half and Lathrop holds serve for a 1-0 victory at home. The Malemutes improve to 8-0-2 and 5-0-2 in the MAC.

With the shutout that's Triplehorn's eighth on the year. She credits her teammates for her successful so far as a keeper.

"Honestly, I got owe it all-all the credit goes to my defense. They're great. They work their butts off. I just make the crazy saves but they do all the work," Triplehorn said,

"I mean we're a family. We work really hard together, we work really well together and we just you know, we're kind of like the underdog and we're going to the top and we're just going to keep working hard and doing our best."

A little more scoring in the boys game between the Hawks and Malemutes.

Justin Boynton had a nice outing for the Lathrop. Boynton scored two of his three goals in the first half. His first tally was six minutes into the game.

Then Alex Jordan finds Boynton in the box with a nice throw in almost alley-oop like and Boynton scores at the 24th minute. He scored again in the second half.

12 mintues after Boynton put the Malemutes up 2-0 Alex Jordan setting up teammates again with a corner kick that gets headed in by Braeden Hoppough. Lathrop wins 5-0 over Hutch.

Jake Carlson gets his third shutout of the season. Hoppough had two goals and an assist. Jordan and Avery Soloaga both had two helpers .
