Lathrop Soccer wins opener

JUNEAU, AK-As spring season tries to get off to the ground in in the Interior area teams are on the road for their first games of the season and the Lathrop soccer team won their season opener. Last evening at Thunder Mountain, the Malemutes came back to win 2-1. It's the first win of the spring season for any interior team.

Team captain Conner Matheny scored the opening goal of the season which gave Lathrop a 1-0 lead about 15 minutes into the first half. Nathan Barnett got the assist on a cross kick.
The Falcons tied the game before the end of the first half but in the second half Nathan Cagwin found Konstantin Baltes, what a soccer name, for the game winner at the 10:56 mark of the second half and Lathrop holds on for the win.

Lathrop outshot Thunder Mountain with a staggering 31-5 advantage.

This evening Lathrop plays Juneau-Douglas in game two of their four game road trip.
