Lathrop opens preseason in track with nice outings

ANCHORAGE-Over the weekend in high school sports local track and field athletes got their first taste of track season. At the Big C Relays in the Dome in Anchorage Lathrop started the preseason strong with four top three finishes in four individual events and two top three places in relays.

Jociece Cannon, Tyreke Jennis, Travis Phillips, and Chris Seminario won the 4x100 meter relay by .4 over a team from California in 45.01 seconds. Braedon Hoppough, Jamarcus Jiles, Cannon and Seminario placed third in the 800 sprint medley relays.

Damian Coger won the boys shotput with 48-4 meter throw. Jared Welch's 6'4" jump was enough to the high jump. Lathrop teammate Cameron Bryant was second in that event with a 6'02" jump. Bryant was third in the 300 hurdles in 43.58 seconds as well.

Eielson's Tony Griffith just out ran Dillon Pratt of Chugiak for the 100 meter dash title gold by fractions of a second. 11.36 sec to 11.48.

Next is the "A" mini meet at North Pole this scheduled for Saturday.
