Lathrop leads four interior teams into state softball tournament

FAIRBANKS, AK-The undefeated Lathrop Malemutes with three All-Railbelt conference selections in Kacey Duffield, Selena Maxwell and Ciara Olalde will face South Anchorage, the fourth seed from the Cook Inlet Conference in their first game this Friday. West Valley will play West Anchorage last year's second place team at 11 am this Friday.

East Anchorage comes in as the defending champs for the large schools. This could be the interior's year. No interior team has finished higher than second and that was North Pole in 2007 but Lathrop is perfect and West Valley finished in third back in 2011.
Now for the small schools championship bracket. The Hutchison Hawks in just their second year of existence and the number two MAC seed find themselves in the state tournament and will take on the Ketchikan Kings at 11 this Friday.

The number one MAC team, the Eielson Ravens, get a bye and will play the winner of the Kodiak Sitka game at 3pm on Friday.

Sitka is the team to beat. They have won the last three state softball championships.
