ANCHORAGE-It was the final weekend for the high school tennis season and Interior teams this past Saturday. Interior teams were in Anchorage for the ASAA state championships.
Lathrop's boys doubles team of senior Alex Jordan and James Kardash won the state title, defeating Daniel Fresntzel and Justin Wolfe of South who were the top seeds. Kardash and Jordan won in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. It's the first boys doubles title for Lathrop since 2009 when Tyler Loud and Drew Lanning won it.
For boys singles West Valley's Jared Lees was this year's runner up. Lees pushed Reed Lekander of West in a 7-5, 6-2 decision. But Lekander was the victor winning back to back state titles.
Lees improved two spots-he was fourth last year.
Here are other notables from the state tennis matches. In girls singles North Pole's Dana Lemay improved from a year ago and go to the semifinals which was year goal. Lemay placed fourth.
