7/8 Stuart Creek 2 Fire Evacuation Order Lifted for Milepost 18-24 Chena Hot Springs Road:
 
The evacuation order was lifted along the Chena Hot Springs Road between mileposts 18 and 34 at 3p.m, July 8, 2013.
 
An evacuation watch is still in effect for mileposts 16-34.
 
The fire is 5% contained and now 79,100 acres.
 
The Tanana Fairground is still open to hosting animals for residents within the evacuation watch area.
 
The Chena Hot Springs road is open.

The fire is both still south of the Chena River and east of the Grange Haul Road. There are 21 hand crews, 27 engines, 4 dozers, 7 water tenders, 12 helicopters, and air tankers working on the fire. The fire rate of spread has been tempered by a late afternoon rain. Firefighters will continue to provide structure protection in the threatened communities and efforts are aimed at holding the fire south of the Chena River. Crews continue to construct line to the north along the fire’s western flank and will attempt to reach the Chena River today. Crews continue to hold the fire on the Quarry and Brigadier Road on the fire’s south flank.
