A Kodiak man will spend 41 months in jail on a drug charge.

Forty-year-old David Ramirez was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Fairbanks for his conviction on one count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

The U.S. Attorney's office says in a release that a drug dog was alerted when Ramirez was pulled over for a traffic violation by Kodiak police in October.

A subsequent search of his vehicle found small amounts of meth, packing material, and two loaded firearms, among other items. Police say when he searched before going into the jail, police also found 4 grams of meth on him..
