An international piano competition in Fairbanks will have contestants playing for listeners inside an auditorium and across the worldwide web.
It's called the Alaska International Piano–e–Competition.
Through advanced technology and the use of specialized Yamaha pianos, over 20 contestants from all over the world will be broadcasting a specialized competition for listeners on the internet.
The event consists of three rounds, starting today (June 28th) and ending July 12th with finalist performances.
Contestants who place could win 65,000 dollars in prize money and opportunities to play their music around the world.
Artistic Advisor Eduard Zilberkant says that the competition can be viewed any time online from any location; however, people can also view the competition in real life at the Davis Concert Hall on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus.
