In preparation for the coming weeks, lawmakers are making their rounds in the Interior to see just what issues they need to address while down in Juneau.
Tonight, the Interior Legislative Delegation is set to meet to discuss these issues with the Borough and their representatives.
Some of the issues that will be discussed include priorities from the Borough Assembly and the Mayor's Office, including issues with schools, roads, public safety, increased efficiency, and the largest issue, energy costs and the ongoing issue of a natural gas line.
It will be the first time lawmakers are meeting since elections; the Newscenter spoke to Representative Scott Kawasaki about the meeting.
When asked about the meeting Kawasaki told the Newscenter, "Whether it's schools or efficiencies that we can find, or especially trying to find a solution to the high cost of energy and improve our air quality at the same time, the Borough Assembly and local government is right on the same instep with the State Interior Delegation members.”
Tune in tonight to Fairbanks Evening News and Newscenter Final for the story.
