Ice Dogs on the road for two competitive games

FAIRBANKS-The Fairbanks Ice Dogs come out of a bye week and will start a two weekend four game road trip on Friday taking on the Austin Bruins in Austin, Minn.

The Bruins are the top Central Division team with a 9-2 record. The Bruins have some of the top ranked players in the NAHL. Forward Jay Dickman is the top scorer in the league with 17 points (9 goals) and Guilliame Leclerc has eight goals and 15 points. They also have a top four goalie in Nicholas Lehr who allows just 1.49 goals a game, saving at 94 percent and is 8-1.

On Saturday the Ice Dogs will face the Minnesota Magicians-a first year program. The Magicians are coming off a win 5-1 over Coulee Region. The Minnesota team is 6-4 and next to last in the Midwest but don't sleep on them. They have a top five goalie in Attle Tolvanen who saves at 94 percent and allows 1.85 goals per game.

But the Ice Dogs have balance with three players netting five goals like rookies David Kaplan and Viktor Liljegren. Jacob Hetz has five scores as well. Eight players have at least five assists. Kyle Lee, the points leader with 13, has nine helpers as does Colton Wolter.

Through 13 games the Ice Dogs are 5-1 on the road this season. Games start at 4:05 AKDT time on Friday and Saturday.
