BLAINE, MINN.-They did it again. Your Fairbanks Ice Dogs won their second game in the NAHL Showcase today at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.
Fairbanks was down 0-2 before Yannick Vedel's back to back goals tied the game in the second period. The Ice Dogs went off in the third period with three unanswered scores for the 5-2 win over the Soo Eagles. The Ice Dogs scored three goals in the period for the fourth straight game and the win brings their record to 4-0 the best start in eight years. Fairbanks more than doubled Soo on the shots with a 36-14 advantage.
Vedel had two goals and a helper. Nick Hinz tacked on a power play goal and an assist. Kyle Lee had two assists as well. Lee's assists were on Vedel's goals. Kevin Aldridge registered 12 saves against 14 saves for Fairbanks.
Now the Ice Dogs will take on the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees are the Wenatchee Wild team from last season. After the new formation of divisions the Fresno Monsters moved up to Wenatchee to keep a junior hockey team there.
