Ice Dogs face Kenai this weekend for first time since 2013

FAIRBANKS-The Ice Dogs invite intrastate rival Kenai River to the Big Dipper this weekend for Military Appreciation week. The Dogs will dawn some nice military camo jerseys.

The Brown Bears at 23-18-6 are next to last in the Midwest and will play desperate as they are 10 points out second place but just six out of third.

Meanwhile the Ice Dogs are the top NAHL team with a 37-13 record and are a six game winning streak.

Six players and Coach Stewart came back late this week after participating in the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament.

One of those players was Kyle Lee who is coming off a Midwest Star of the week performance with five  point weekend in the Bruins sweep.

Jake Bushey was traded to Fairbanks from the Brown Bears this month and he'll be going up against his former team.

The last time the Ice Dogs and Brown Bears met was a series on Dec.13-14. The Ice Dogs swept the Brown Bears in clinch the second annual ERA Cup with 2-1 and 3-2 wins.
