FAIRBANKS-In high school sports news senior Martha Hood, who swam for North Pole this season, signed a national letter of intent this week to join the Alaska Nanook swim team next fall.
Hood won the ASAA state title in the 50 free and was second in the 100 fly last month. Hood won region 6 titles in those two events. Her 57.82 time in the fly would already be second best at UAF this season.
Hood swam for IDEA Home Schools for three years before being able to swim for North Pole thanks to a new state law that allows home schoolers to join high school teams.She also has Junior Olympics experience.
Hood will join a deep team that already has talented freshman like Victoria Adams and Kathryn Pound.
