There will be a car wash this Saturday at Mike's Chevron.
But this will not be a typical car wash as the story behind it makes this event very special.
The proceeds from this fundraiser will go toward offsetting expenses to send the only world war two Navy veteran in the Interior along with three other world war two veterans from Anchorage on a trip to Washington D.C.
There the veterans will be united with other heroes from world war two as part of a unique gathering of "honor flight" participants.
Julie Engfer from Festival Fairbanks says this special car wash will help to make a dream trip for the participants.
"We are going to be joining a group from Oregon Honor Flight and also other groups from other parts of the country.
Before we spend the night in Washington D.C.
They will be given dinner and they'll do a tour of the plaza there.
But because we're traveling so far from Alaska, we're going to be adding some extra tours for them.
So we're spending an extra day out there, and we're going to Mount Vernon, and then we're going to be at the capitol.
And Congressman Don Young is going to send one of his aids to meet with us and give us a tour around the capitol.
Once again the car wash will be from noon to 4pm Saturday at Mike's Chevron on College Road.
