A 28-year-old man charged with first degree felony assault has pleaded not guilty to beating another man earlier this month.
Joshua Sanford was arraigned today in front of Judge Bethany Harbison in Fairbanks Superior Court.
Sanford allegedly beat Austin Gibbs, also of Healy, with a baseball bat.
When a woman at the scene asked Sanford why he was beating the man, he allegedly laughed and apologized, and said he thought the man was someone else.
Troopers were called by Gibbs’ brother who took him to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.
Sanford is currently out on bail.
Trial in the case is scheduled for March.
