GVEA outage impacts half of their members

Yesterday morning thousands of Golden Valley Electric Company customers were without power.
According to GVEA Spokeswoman Cassandra Cerny, 16,500 members were affected which is half of GVEAs nearly 34,500 customers.
The outage happened at 9:30AM between the areas of Delta to Ester.
Power was restored to the homes at 10AM; the reason was said to be a fault on the Anchorage-Fairbanks Intertie in the Wasilla area.
GVEA is still investigating the specifics as to what the fault could be.
