Grand slam key in Goldpanners win

FAIRBANKS, AK-The Alaska Goldpanners struck first in their final regualr season four game series with the Mat-Su Miners and they did so in grand fashion. Both teams came in tied for first in the ABL with four games remaining.

Drew Mitrisin got the start for the Panners are he was dealing three up three down in the first. In the second inning however Gio Brsa, the home run derby winner, goes yard for a solo shot to break the scoreless tie. Mitrisin and the Panners defense settled down and got a double play to get out of the inning.

Bottom second inning and if you have seen the Panners they get hot early and often at home.

Casey Munoz welcomes Miners pitcher Ty Schlottmann to Fairbanks. With the bases loaded Munoz sends this one out. It goes just over the glove of left fielder Christin Stewart landing out of the park. That's a grand slam. Munoz first home run of the year is a huge one.

The Panners explode for seven runs in the inning and go on to win 9-2. Mitrisin got the win. Payden Cawley Lamb went 2 for 3, 2 runs and a double as well.

Now the Goldpanners have a half game lead for first place over the Bucs. The Miners are one game back. The Panners have a double header with the Miners today and end the season tomorrow at 5 pm.
