FAIRBANKS- After many months of secrecy, Governor Sean Parnell released a report that influenced his decision not to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. He posted the 60- page document on his website which describes the possible effects of a Medicaid expansion. The report says, expansion under ACA would’ve cost the state about $300 million in six years. Parnell said the state’s operating budget would then revolve around the expanded Medicaid program. However, the expansion would’ve provided coverage to an additional 20,000 people and collected about $3 billion from federal revenues. The report was prepared by the Lewin Group last April, and the governor rejected numerous requests to share the report, until now.
