The Governor Rejects Federal Medicaid Money

FAIRBANKS- Heath and usiness groups have encouraged Governor Sean Parnell to expand Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, but in a press conference today, the governor said the federal program is “broken.” Under the Affordable Care Act, the federal government would cover 100% of the expansion during the first three years, but Parnell says the federal pledge can't be trusted. For now, Parnell says he wants to create a Medicaid reform strategy for Alaskans that is sustainable. He is creating a reform group to draft a plan within the year, which aims to fill health care gaps among low income people.
