Goldpanners win ABL regular season title

FAIRBANKS, AK-Tonight at Growden Memorial Pak the Goldpanners did a little bit of everything to win the ABL regular season championship against the Mat-Su Miners. The Goldpanners played smart baseball and displayed their aggressive base running and timely playmaking ability in their 6-2 victory and double header sweep of the Miners.

The Goldpanners had to win three games in the four game series to secure the title. Tonight's win game them the all important third straight victory. The Anchorage Bucs were a game behing the Panners coming into tonight's game but the Bucs fell to the Chinooks tonight 8-5 to all but secure the title for Alaska.

Earlier the Panners rallied in the bottom of the seventh to win 9-8 in dramatic fashion in first game of the double header. Both of tonight's game were seven inning contests.

In tonight's game tt was tied 2-2 in the fifth inning but the Panners errupt for four runs in the bottom of the fifth and close out a season that earns them their first regular season ABL crown since 2005.

Head coach Bryan Harris guided the team to this championship in his first year as head coach for the program.
