Goldpanners tie five game series with a blowout

FAIRBANKS, AK-Last evening at Growden Memorial Park your Fairbanks Goldpanners bounced back from a series opening 7-3 loss to the San Francisco Seals in a big way.

The Seals were the aggressors early on with this three run homer by Seals catcher Matt Mayo in the top of the second. In game one the Seals had a lead and the Panners battled back. Fairbanks would do the same and then some to say the least.

Chance Abrath answered with a solo jack to make it a 3-1 one game. Then in the bottom of the third the Panners went off. David Fletcher hit a home run and rbi double in the same inning as 10 batters got at bats. Fairbanks generated seven runs to take a 8-3 lead.

The game even had an ejection has the Seals third base coach. He argued an out call on of his palyers and was ejected by the umpire.. He even tried to throw the umpire out mimicing the ump's gesture as he made a dramatic exit.

The Seals put in Ghazaleh Sailors and she is the first female pitcher the Panners have faced in their 54 year history. The knuckle baller got some strikes but allowed four runs. Abrath and Fletcher who are roommates ignited the offense for the Panners and the defense was there with pitcher Matt Milke getting four straight strikeouts in the some middle relief work.

The Goldpanners put up six runs in the bottom of the eighth and blowout the Seals 18-6 tying the five game series. Fairbanks is now 5-4-1 on the season. This five game series with the Seals are non league games.
