The Goldpanners stop their slide

ANCHORAGE, AK-Your Alaskas Goldpanners get a big win last night against the Anchorage Bucs. Some players made some key plays in this one. The Panners held on for a 3-2 win in Mulchay Stadium. Alaska lost five of their last six games before the All-Star break.

It was tied 1-1 in the eighth until Payden Cawley-Lamb came home on an error from third. Chance Abrath led the Panners with two hits including the game winning rbi single.

Kevin Sprague closed it out by retiring two batters in the ninth inning. He gave up a triple and a run but got the ground out to secure the victory. Nathan Bannister got the start and is now 6-0 for Alaska. The University of Arizona freshmen tossed five shutout innings.

The Panners are now 18-11 and half game out of first behind the Miners. Alaska has its final two road games against the Chugiak Chinooks with a double header today. First place could be decided when the Panners host the Mat-Su Miners this Thursday in a four game series to close out the regular season.
