Goldpanners extend winning streak to nine games

FAIRBANKS, AK-Last night at Growden Memorial Park your Goldpanners had a seven inning double header with the Anchorage Bucs part of a four game series. Alaska won 4-0 in game one.

Game two they faced adversity. The Bucs were up 7-1 after two. The Goldpanners put on the pressure scoring five runs in the third and fourth innings to make it a 7-6 game. The Bucs faltered. The tying run came on a Bucs error. The Panners displayed some excellent base running and take the lead on a fielder's choice. Then the Bucs throw a wild pitch and the Panners get another run and just like that it's 9-7.

Cody Moffett threw seven Ks in four and two thirds scoreless innings. David Edwards hits an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth bringing home Payden Cawley-Lamb for the all important insurance run. Nick Catalano went two for three. A home run, a double and three rbis.

The comeback kids get the 10-7 win.  The Goldpanners win the four game series making it nine wins in a row. They are third in the ABL at 4-2. A half game back of the Bucs at 6-3. The Mat-Su Miners are first at 7-3.

"We didn't give up. All we needed to do was put runs on the board. We had six more innings and we kept fighting, scoring and getting runs on base," Goldpanners second baseman Alex Rubanowitz said. "I think it proves to the league how good of a team we can actually be with a full roster. Our putchers are throwing strikes, playing good defense and we're putting the ball in play. It doesn't matter who we're playing. We can beat anybody."

Moffett is just enjoying the ride.

"Pitching and all around everything's working, actually. I can't really put a pin on anything, it's just everything. The team chemistry's great, it's just a great atmosphere, we love it here," Moffett said.
