Girls 2013-2014 HS basketball season at a glance

FAIRBANKS-Guess what Interior? The high school basketball season starts next weekend. I know already right. The theme across the across the state this year is that everything is wide open.

Here's a little preview of what's on deck for this season. Ladies first.

Some newness this year at West Valley. Jesse Craig takes over as the head coach replacing Steve Caciari.

The Patriots have a new coach too. Mason Campbell takes over the program after being an assistant at West Valley last season and a volunteer assistant at UAF.

Lathrop lost a lot after graduating Jasmine White and Erisha Talley, freshman Ruthy Hebard transferring to WestValley but head coach David Stewart is preparing a young team with experience this year to be competitive.

The Hutchison Hawks lost 3A player of the year Mimi Wood to graduation but return virtually all their players from their third place 3A state team.

The Eielson Ravens will look to be a threat with seniors Katie Browder and Larissa Franklin back.

The Monroe Rams will look to bounce back in the Aurora Conference this year after graduating six seniors.

We'll have team previews from the Interior girls teams as their first games get closer. We'll take a look at boys basketball tomorrow. Monroe, Eielson, Lathrop and Delta tip off next Saturday Dec 14.
