FAIRBANKS- There has been devastating images from the Philippines after a massive typhoon hit the islands. Filipino residents in Fairbanks are hearing first- hand accounts of the ongoing situation. They say the Filipino government is overwhelmed and the area is like a warzone, without access to clean water and food. A local group, called Fresh Water for the Philippines organized a buffet dinner, featuring Filipino cuisine, in an effort to get clean water into disaster areas. The dinner will be hosted at the Finish line Restaurant in the Alpine Lodge on Dec. 10th. Tickets cost $50 and can be purchased at the Alpine Lodge on Dale Road. The group also needs silent auction items- any donations can also be taken to the lodge by December 3rd.
