FAIRBANKS- The National Railroad Historical Society will bring about 400 people to Alaska for their annual meeting next week. It’s their first time to the 49th state and they would like to share their love of trains with the public. Sunday, they will offer two 90-minute train rides to Goldstream and back. They rented the passenger trains from the Alaska Railroad because it’s near the end of the tourism season. Local organizer, Dan Osborne, says it’s a great opportunity for families and "would be a great way to take the family to see something for about the price of a movie and to go see the fall colors.” Prices are $10 for a kid, $15 for an adult and $25 for a dome seat. Reservations can be made by calling the AK Railroad at (907) 265-2494. A link to their page is at the bottom.
On Monday, about 200 members of the group will ride the train down to Anchorage and continue their meeting.
