Freshman wins girls race and West Vally boys win again

FAIRBANKS-In more high school sports area cross country teams were at the Birch Hill Rec Area on Saturday for the Interior Invitational.
West Valley freshman Jenna Difolco won the girls 5K race in 22 minutes and 19 seconds. She came back in the last kilometer to win it. But Lathrop won the girls team title with 20 points sweeping spots 2-5. The Wolfpack were second (49) followed by Delta (58). Morgan Conrow (24:25) led a trio of Patriots placing sixth for North Pole.
On the boys side Sam King of Lathrop won the 5k in 19 minutes and the Malemutes took the top three spots but West Valley won the Invitational. The Wolfpack had 34 points getting five runners in the top 10 despite not having their best runners who are gearing up for this weekend's Palmer Invitational.

Lathrop was second with 43 points followed by Delta (91) , North Pole (101), Eielson (140) and Monroe (174).
